Garden Visitor

“The kiss of the sun for pardon,

The songs of the birds for mirth,

One is nearer God’s heart in a garden

Than anywhere else on earth.”

~ Dorothy Frances Gurney (1858-1932), “God’s Garden” lines 13–16, Poems, by Dorothy Frances Gurney

Minnesota Summer

“Aaah, summer – that long anticipated stretch of lazy, lingering days, free of responsibility and rife with possibility. It’s a time to hunt for insects, master handstands, practice swimming strokes, conquer trees, explore nooks and crannies, and make new friends.”

~ Darell Hammond, (1955- ) American actor, stand-up comedian and impressionist

Summer comes and goes too quickly, especially in Minnesota.

This was a delightful spot for a roadside picnic while my husband and I traveled across North Dakota.  We lingered much longer than our original plan just to soak up the sunshine, the water, and the fresh air.

Here are chunks of ice melting at the edge of a local pond.  I have often enjoyed the way the sunshine plays with both the water and the ice at the end of winter.  To me, the color and textures can be similar to the bright shine of diamonds.

Spring is almost here.  Yay!

Stress Relief

I took this shot on a gorgeous fall day while traveling out west.  I was walking and felt rather envious when I noticed the men out fishing on the river.  We must never get so busy  that we fail to take note of the beautiful world which surrounds us!
