A Rural Life

“As much as I converse with sages and heroes, they have very little of my love and admiration.  I long for rural and domestic scene, for the warbling of birds and the prattling of my children.”

~John Adams (1735-1826), 2nd President of the United States of America

Minnesota Summer

“Aaah, summer – that long anticipated stretch of lazy, lingering days, free of responsibility and rife with possibility. It’s a time to hunt for insects, master handstands, practice swimming strokes, conquer trees, explore nooks and crannies, and make new friends.”

~ Darell Hammond, (1955- ) American actor, stand-up comedian and impressionist

Summer comes and goes too quickly, especially in Minnesota.

Visit the Great Outdoors!

Summer is just around the corner.  What an opportune time to see new sites and reconnect with the great outdoors!  I took this shot on a road trip across Montana.  Where might you be planning to travel this year?

Magic Moments

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

After a long day of traveling in the country looking for an intriguing subject to photograph I was headed home.  I had taken some interesting shots, but they all paled in comparison to the amazing pink clouds that appeared on the horizon for the evening sunset.  I was not in the best place for a typical sunset shot, but I am still grateful to this family of cows.

Dark Purple Sky

“A dark purple sky filled with the first few evening stars made her feel small. She smiled; that was what she expected from the sky.  All her life, she’d gone out at night and stood beneath that blue velvet darkness.  It was her temple, the true house of God, and it never failed to remind her of her place.”

~ Kristin Hannah, Angel Falls

The view from my cabin porch.  It has become the place where I go to renew my spirit — my place.   I loved Kristin Hannah’s description of such a place and hope others find such a place for themselves as well.

Do you see the slight sliver of the moon?
